P.054 Effects of cerebellar Theta Burst Stimulation (TBS) on working memory
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Recent evidence suggests that the cerebellum is involved in cognitive functions. Theta burst stimulation (TBS), a modality of transcranial magnetic (TMS), on can change its contribution to working memory. Therefore, we hypothesize excitatory intermittent TBS (iTBS) would improve performance memory tasks, whereas inhibitory continuous (cTBS) disrupt it. Methods: As this an ongoing study, nine participants (6 women) took part study so far. was applied bilaterally. All subjects received iTBS, cTBS, and sham iTBS three sessions random order. After each session, performed types tasks: letter 2-back, digit span forward (DSF), backward (DSB). Results: The preliminary results suggest better condition 2-back DSB tasks compared cTBS conditions, but did not reach statistical significance due small sample size. Conclusions: show cerebellar may be disrupted by TBS. gain more power recruiting participants, hope further demonstrate effects

Cerebellar theta burst stimulation in stroke patients with ataxia.
Evidence for effective improvement of the symptoms of cerebellar stroke is still limited. Here, we investigated the effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) applied over the injured cerebellar hemisphere in six patients with posterior circulation stroke. We applied a two-week course of cerebellar intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS). Before and after the iTBS treatm...
متن کاملCerebellar theta burst stimulation dissociates memory components in eyeblink classical conditioning.
The cerebellum plays a critical role in forming precisely timed sensory-motor associations. This process is thought to proceed through two learning phases: one leading to memory acquisition; and the other leading more slowly to memory consolidation and saving. It has been proposed that fast acquisition occurs in the cerebellar cortex, while consolidation is dislocated into the deep cerebellar n...
متن کاملEffects of intermittent theta burst stimulation on spasticity after stroke
Spasticity is a common cause of long-term disability in poststroke hemiplegic patients. We investigated whether intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) could reduce upper-limb spasticity after a stroke. Fifteen hemiplegic stroke patients were recruited for a double-blind sham-controlled cross-over design study. A single session of iTBS or sham stimulation was delivered on the motor hotspot ...
متن کاملEffects of two weeks of cerebellar theta burst stimulation in cervical dystonia patients.
Dystonia is generally regarded as a disorder of the basal ganglia and their efferent connections to the thalamus and brainstem, but an important role of cerebellar-thalamo-cortical (CTC) circuits in the pathophysiology of dystonia has been invoked. Here in a sham controlled trial, we tested the effects of two-weeks of cerebellar continuous theta burst stimulation (cTBS) in a sample of cervical ...
متن کاملThe Polarity-Dependent Effects of the Bilateral Brain Stimulation on Working Memory
Introduction: Working memory plays a critical role in cognitive processes which are central to our daily life. Neuroimaging studies have shown that one of the most important areas corresponding to the working memory is the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLFPC). This study was aimed to assess whether bilateral modulation of the DLPFC using a noninvasive brain stimulation, namely transcranial di...
